Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award 2015

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award 2015

Ami im Schwabenland recently nominated me for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award (thanks, Ami!). It's very much like the Liebster Award that I was nominated for last October. The rules are simple:

  1. Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you and share a link to her/his/their blog in your post.
  2. Answer the ten questions you've been sent.
  3. Write ten questions of your own.
  4. Spread the love and nominate up to ten bloggers!

Here are the ten questions Ami im Schawabenland sent, along with my answers...

The Liebster Award 2014

It seems I've been nominated for a Liebster Award (thank you, Ami in Schwabenland)! To be honest, I really had no idea what this was until my nomination. A little digging around online suggested that the award is of dubious origins, thought it all seems rather harmless.

Basically someone nominates you for being a small blog that they like (liebster means beloved in German), and you have to answer their questions and then nominate another five bloggers using your own 5-10 questions. I liked one description that I read about it being a cross between chain mail and a love letter.

I really don't much like these sorts of things on Facebook, but I am very flattered to have been nominated my someone who likes my blog and is a reader besides my close friends. I also like having this opportunity to nominate and share with you some of the other expat blogs that I've been reading and enjoying lately...

Getting Started

Getting Started

I decided to start a blog three days ago after a four-hour food tour of Prague. A little tipsy on Czech culinary history and wine, I was awed by the experience I'd just had. I wondered if I could quit my day job and give food tours myself in our current home in Stuttgart, Germany. My lack of German language proficiency and native cultural knowledge quickly squashed that idea. But still, I thought, I tend to eat a lot of good food, and my husband and I make a real effort to find great food whenever we travel. A blog is a happy solution (especially since I won't be quitting my job any time soon)...
